Silvertrack Track-Pod is our great new and low-cost “live” GPS tracker. It is ideal in every way for worldwide use (Quad band for worldwide GPS coverage)(Japan excluded).
At 70x45x30 the tracker is small enough to fit onto a belt or in a pocket it can be discreetly carried by the gap year traveller.
For peace of mind, friends and family can log on at any time to a private mapping website, using a password assigned to the tracker and see live locations for the device as well as accessing full routing paths of all previous journeys.
Should an emergency situation arise, the traveller can press the SOS alert button on the side of the Silvertrack. The push of the button initiates an alert status on the tracker's mapping panel and will sent a panic text message to a controlling mobile number.
The mapping system is clear and concise and has been designed for ease of use. High quality maps and Google satellite images not only show the Silvertrack's exact location but also the route taken, with easy to read track points. Previous journeys can be accessed and reproduced.
The Silvertrack is programmed by us for specific use by a Gap-Year traveller. It is instructed to provide full live tracking at all times when it is moving and will fire locations off to the mapping server when the tracker recognises significant movement. The battery life of the tracker is a very useful 4 to 7 days (depending upon the period of active movement during the day).
Estimates of battery longevity depend entirely upon two things; firstly, how long the Silvertrack is moving during an average 24 hour period, and secondly, how often has it been set to report its location to the mapping website (we recommend a location report every 30 minutes as a good compromise for Gap-year travellers, although you can by all means set the reporting period down to 10 seconds should you want exceptional smooth location mapping. Reporting periods are easily changed via the mapping panel.
A fantastic, small and lightweight GPS tracker, which not only provides peace of mind to both traveller and those left behind, but allows friends and family to share the experience of the once in the lifetime gap year journey.
Silvertrack is supplied with GPRS credit sufficient for 1000 location reports. Once these have been used it is a simple process to buy more credits (each location report costs no more than 2/10th's of a penny) via the mapping pannel (by parents/friends or the traveller themselves).
Other than location credits there are no long term cost implications for this tracker. No subscriptions. No mapping licences.
Supplied with 240v wall charger and belt pouch.
